What are the requirements to participate in the Chapin Middle School Band?
The requirements to participate in the Chapin Middle School Band is that you have completed one year of the band in 6th or a year of private lessons. Students should also have a good recommendation from their 6th-grade band director as well. Students who commit to following the rules and expectations of the band program are welcome to our family.
What is the difference between concert and symphonic band?
The concert band is made up of all 7th graders. This group performs at school concerts and/or CPA. Symphonic is the premiere ensemble of our band program and is made up of all 8th graders and select 7th graders. This ensemble performs frequently throughout the school year at concerts, various school events, assemblies, and adjudicated performances.
When does the band practice after school?
The band normally practices after school leading up to concerts and adjudicated performances. Concert band practices on Monday’s from 3:45-4:45 and symphonic band practices on Wednesday’s from 3:45-4:45. Students are fed a sweet and salty snack after each rehearsal! Specific dates are listed in the band handbook. Updates regarding rehearsals are sent out through charms, google classroom, and Remind.
Will students be able to participate in athletics and band?
Yes, students can participate in athletics and band. If you are in a sport let Mr. Howell know so that arrangements can be made between the student and their coach to attend any after-school rehearsals.
Is there an email newsletter, or how can I stay informed?
All parents and students receive emails through the Charms Office. Additional ways to stay informed would be by signing up on your student’s google classroom, Remind, all of our social media platforms, and attending booster club meetings.
What does CBBC stand for?
Chapin Band Booster Club. This is the band booster club organization that supports our band program
How do I get involved in the booster club?
Sign up for the booster club by joining the booster club. Booster club sign up sheets can be found in the band handbook or here on our website under “More” and then click Chapin Band Booster Club under parent forms. Once you join, contact the CBBC President for more information.
Where can I buy Chapin Band merchandise?
You can buy band merchandise from Embellished. You can visit their page on Facebook. You can see samples of their work there. Select what you want to buy or custom design by clicking “Get your band apparel today” on our home page of the band website.
